Hi, I’m kara white.
My desire is to work as a coach is rooted in my intention to help individuals find more peace in their lives, better understand their own way of being, and come to feel more fully alive in each moment.
I love learning about the human psyche and human systems. People who think outside the box and use creativity to solve problems have always inspired me. I am interested in what it means to live fully for mind, body, and spirit. Following that interest, I became a certified Breathwork & Mindset coach.
I have also completed the Coaching for Self Leadership training through the IFS Institute using the IFS (Internal Family Systems) model as well as the IFS Online Circle: Foundations of the IFS Model. My journey
I experienced health issues in my early 20’s followed by relationship challenges in my late 30’s. They were nudging me to explore what was going for me on a deeper level. Although I have always been a seeker, I got serious about finding answers. I began to study and experience different forms of cognitive, physical and emotional healing. I worked with traditional and non-traditional doctors, healers, coaches, therapists, teachers, yogis, and shamans. I attended countless workshops and retreats. I even traveled to the jungle to experience plant medicine. I read book after book. I went down a lot of rabbit holes. Some of them were not necessary although all of them were valuable. It was not until I experienced my own rock bottom that I learned to turn inside. I discovered with the help of a trusted IFS therapist that the healing I longed for could be found inside. I began to turn toward the parts of myself that I had been pushing away for years. I was able to help those wounded parts to trust and to heal. This connected me to the wise Self that I believe we all have inside. One of the things that really surprised me in my own healing process was that some of my youngest parts contained the most wisdom, joy, love and compassion. This reminded me of what Glinda the good witch said to Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, “You’ve had the power all along my dear”.
My Background
I have spent the past 20+ years working as an interior designer. I observed in my work that people’s external environments are often a reflection of what is going on for them internally. Over the years I began to learn how to deeply listen in order to understand how each client wanted to feel in their space. Creating beauty and order in people’s living and working environments made a big impact, but those external changes often did not address the internal changes that many clients longed for. I became more and more curious about how I could help on a deeper level and began the journey to becoming a coach. I now get to help my clients with a different kind of interior design!
What lights me up
One of the ways I personally feel most fully alive is when I am able to both learn from and serve others. I especially adore my role as a mother and feel that my two grown sons have been my biggest teachers. In my free time, I enjoy a wide range of activities including running, hiking, rock climbing, paddle boarding, yoga, breathwork, journaling, knitting, reading, cooking, entertaining friends and attempting to make art. I love to bring beauty into the world and will always bring that creative, artistic approach to everything I do. The ability to make a difference in the lives of others provides a beautiful sense of satisfaction at this chapter in my life.
